heart~catcher

I found a darling tutorial here that was just the project
I needed on a cold, snowy day!  All I wanted to do, on Monday,
was sit by the fire, so that is exactly what I did while making
my heart~catcher : )

I am going to show you my process in pictures, but please ask questions
if you decide you want to make one of these little ditties too.  I will be
happy to give you more details if you need them.

Here goes:

Today is another snowy day……

old hankie

I have old, vintage hankies that I want to use in my Bohemian quilting for
embroidery.  So many of them already have pretty details, so
they will add a lovely touch to my quilts : )

Here is one that I am embroidering my initials in lower case letters.

I finished this ditty with some fabric and lace.  It is ready to be added to my quilt!

More to come : )

the tale of two buttonhole stitches

I managed to add a couple more ditties to my Bohemian quilt yesterday : )

I used two different buttonhole/blanket stitches.
Do you call them buttonhole or blanket stitches?  I have some research
to do, because I am not certain there is any difference!

I used a regular buttonhole stitch on my willy nilly piece.

I used a closed buttonhole stitch on my circle embroidery.

Now I am ready to stitch up more fun ; )

slowly working on my bohemian quilting

I am starting to add some pieces to the quilt top!

stitchery

As I said in the beginning, I am calling this Bohemian Quilting because
I am combining my love of quilting with a love of embroidery.
Now that said, I am no expert on embroidery, and that makes this journey
even more fun.  I will hopefully be learning as I sew(stitch)!

Time to pull out the big guns : )

little quilt monday~~~l o v e stitches

I made another L O V E mini quilt, but this time I didn't paper piece
the letters.  I used improv piecing, and I am anxious to try and
make the entire alphabet that way!

pick stitch

The fabric is a from my AMH stash and some Robert Kaufman Essex.

My crazy pick stitching was so much fun and the linen
made it easy!  I have wanted to stitch something up like
this for a while, and this small piece was the perfect way to begin….
I will be pick stitching again ; )

This little mini measures 9" X 12".

l o v e mini quilt

I finished my L O V E mini quilt.  It is a paper piece pattern
that is found here.   I don't attempt paper piecing very often, but I had
no problem making this little gem : )

I like to work with linen and enjoyed playing with the
Radiant Orchid palette.

You know I love to quilt with the big stitch!

I am not much of a paper piecer, but I found out I can do it
when the pieces aren't very small!
