swap block

I received my bachelor puzzle block from Sylvia who lives in Australia.  It is very pretty and looks wonderful with the other blocks that I have received from the Block Swap Adventure swap.  I am still deciding which block to make for her so she will have to wait a little longer.  I have the fabric picked out, so once I decide on a block it shouldn't take too long : )

outer circle

I finally worked up the nerve to try to sew the outer circle on my dresden and I did it!  It is not perfect, but circles are very forgiving and I think it will look much better once it is quilted.  I am going to make this a wall hanging or table topper.  This will sound rather odd, but I think I will smile every time I see it because for me it is quite an accomplishment : )

inner circle

I pieced the inner circle to my dresden and Lily's directions were so helpful.  I had to rip one seam and resew a couple seams and then I used lots of steam and ironed it until it was flat as a pancake!  It isn't a perfect circle, but I am happy with my first dresden : )

I have it on top of another quilt on my design wall in case you are wondering about all the flowers!

dresden quilt-along

There is a give-away at Stray Stitches blog that will end on Monday, April 11th.  Linda (Stray Stitches) is celebrating her 200th blog post......Congratulations!  She has a wonderful blog, always full of fun information and great pictures from all her projects and swaps.

I have joined the QAL at Lily's Quilts.  We are making dresden plate circles and after making one, I know I will be making another because they are fun!  I haven't sewn my inner circle yet, so perhaps I will be singing a different tune after that : )

Well, if you have time go check out both of these blogs!

mesh pot scrubber

I read about making pot scrubbers from mesh bags on a blog the other day, and could hardly wait to purchase something in a mesh bag so I could make one.  I can't remember which blog(sorry, I read so many), but they used an onion bag, and mine happens to be from a bag of mandarin oranges, but of course it makes no difference : )  I like to "go green" when I can, so this is an easy way to recycle!  OH, and it has Tiger's approval.

mug rug swap

I received two cute mug rugs from The Quilting Gallery's mug rug swap.  I sent two mug rugs to Finland and then mine came from Australia!   This was such a fun swap.   I know I am going to enjoy my mug rugs : )  Thank you so much, Karen P.
