little quilt monday~~~liberty of london swap mini quilt

I made a mini quilt for the Liberty of London Swap 2.
I started with hexagons and then sewed them together
into a heart.  My swap partner likes hearts, so that helped
me decide what to do with the hexagons.

I used Essex linen/cotton blend in gray for the background and
it really set off the bright colors of the hexagons.

I machine quilted on the diagonal in straight stitches and
I chose a bright LOL fabric for the binding.

My swap partner received my package this week and is pleased with her mini quilt!

I sent a few other small quilted items that I will post about later in the week.

little quilt monday~~~doll quilt with faux binding

I made a fast and easy doll quilt this week with the cutest "little red riding hood" fabric.

I started with two fat quarters of fabric and cut ten 5 inch
squares from each.

It went together really fast and then I decided to use the flip and turn method to finish.  But
I still wanted the look of binding, so I made a faux binding by adding a one inch border before
I sewed the backing to the front and batting.

After I clipped the corners and turned the quilt out, I hand sewed the opening up.
Then to make the red checked border look like binding, I sewed along the edge...
and it looks pretty believable : )

Sometimes I just need a quick project to start and finish.

I machine quilted this little doll quilt with simple diagonal lines.

I will be making more of these….they are a great scrap buster project!

little quilt monday~~~triangle play

I finally added my binding to this mini quilt,  Triangle Play.  It is a happy
little quilt : )

I think the citron colored binding is the perfect finish!

It is such a pretty day to take pictures outside.

My big stitches look good from the back…I used a linen tea towel for the backing.

Had to add my tag : )

little quilt monday~~~l o v e stitches

I made another L O V E mini quilt, but this time I didn't paper piece
the letters.  I used improv piecing, and I am anxious to try and
make the entire alphabet that way!

pick stitch

The fabric is a from my AMH stash and some Robert Kaufman Essex.

My crazy pick stitching was so much fun and the linen
made it easy!  I have wanted to stitch something up like
this for a while, and this small piece was the perfect way to begin….
I will be pick stitching again ; )

This little mini measures 9" X 12".

little quilt monday~~~striped binding

Little Quilt Monday

This little mini has sat around patiently waiting for the perfect binding.
I finally found it this week and I am very pleased with the stripes ; )

This little quilt measures 9 X 9 and it is made up of UFO blocks
from a project of long ago…as you can tell by the fabric.

I think the stripe fabric gives it a little zip, and it will make a nice little
table mat for my desk!

The addition of big stitches are always a fun and easy way
to finish a mini quilt.

little quilt monday~~~baby banner

Little Quilt Monday

My daughter and I hosted a baby shower today and I made
a banner to celebrate the occasion.

I used felted wool, and a cute zigzag fabric, along with some
embroidery thread.  This was a fun, easy project : )

The mother-to-be plans to hang this when the little guy is born
to welcome him home.  I think banners are such a fun addition
to a celebration....especially a precious birth!

little quilt monday~~~journal cover

Little Quilt Monday

It has been a long time since I have had a post for LQM.
BUT I plan to start posting more often and today I have a couple
journal covers that I made using
my favorite "charms on point technique".

I used some 2.5 inch mini charm packs for this project.   The one above is
Modern Bliss by Andie Hanna for Robert Kaufman fabrics.

The one below is Posy by Aneela Hoey for Moda fabrics.

Below you will see some pics to show a little bit of the process
that I use when making the charms on point design.

I added a solid fabric to finish the journal covers and I am pleased with how they
turned out so I have decided
that I will make this my go-to pattern for journal covers ; )

little quilt monday~~~okcmqg bom

Little Quilt Monday

June is my month to provide a block for the OKCMQG BOM.
(Oklahoma City Modern Quilt Guild Block of the Month : )

You can find the tutorial for my block here at the

simply squares block

I think it will make an awesome pillow or make
four blocks and it will be a darling mini quilt!

I hope you will make this block, and please let me know if you do : )

little quilt monday~~~lined drawstring bag

Little Quilt Monday

I needed a gift bag for a friend's birthday present.  After seeing so many bags
made from Jeni's tutorial, I decided to make one too.

http://www.incolororder.com/2011/10/lined-drawstring-bag-tutorial.html

Her tutorial was easy to follow and I think it turned out really cute.
You need to pick out three fabrics...two for the outside and one for the inside
and then you can use ribbon or fabric to make the drawstring.

You box the corners, giving your bag a nice neat look : )

little quilt monday~~~etsy, anyone?

Little Quilt Monday

My goal this week is to try out the waters of etsy with a few pincushions.
Do any of you have items for sale on etsy....any tips?

I will be working on pricing, description of items to be sold, and all the rest...
I hope I can figure it out without a hitch!

Here is another rosebud waiting in the wings to be a pincushion : )
