These pictures hang in the master bedroom and bath:

cross stitch extravaganza

This week my blog is going to be a show-and-tell of my cross stitch over the years : )  I haven't cross stitched in years, but you will see that I use to do it often!  Since they are in frames and under glass my photos are a little wonky, but I did my best to keep the flash off of the glass.

Today I am showing the ones that are hanging in my kitchen:

little flimsy

I haven't accomplished much in the sewing room this week.  I have put this little quilt top together and have enough coin strips to make another.  I will add a border or two and then have a baby quilt ready to go when needed : )

Hope your week has been a joy!

giveaway winner

Not much in the way of sewing has gone on around here this week...I have been cleaning out closets : )

Anyway, I do have a winner in my 100th post giveaway......Lee Ann!

Lee Ann said...

I'd like to try making flying geese out of charm squares. I ran across an old blog post out there that talked about making them out of charm squares and a ruler (Fit to be Geese). Ever since, I've had an hankering to try making some. :-)

I  hope she will send a picture when she gets her flying geese made.

Thanks for all the great ideas for charm squares, and hopefully, I will be back to my sewing room soon.

with the help of my cat

Sew Cal Gal is hosting Pets On Quilts Show 2011.

I have had Tiger's much needed help many times since I began my blogging journey a year ago.
Most of the time he is working behind the scenes, but believe me, he is always helping....that is, when he isn't napping : )
He was shy at first, as we prepared to take a picture of my iPad cover.

Here he helped me tell about the comfort quilt made for my sweet mother.

He was really getting the hang of it by the time we did a review for this Lapel glue stick!

He was thrilled to see a package of selvages that came in the mail.

He has given his approval of my very first quilt.

He wasn't sure about these pot scrubbers : (

He was as excited as I was to get the challenge fabric for my local quilt shop challenge.
He even shares an interest in my bird watching hobby.

Let me officially thank you, Tiger, for all your help.  I just couldn't imagine life without you!

postcards from the past

I have been in several fabric postcard swaps.  They were lots of fun, and I still enjoy looking through them and I thought you might enjoy seeing some of them too : )  They came from all over the USA and a couple from Canada.  They were easy to make, no problem to mail, and delightful to receive!

vintage quilt tops

I have two vintage quilt tops.  The green one has been hand pieced.  It has been used as a Christmas tree skirt several times.  The red one has been machine pieced and has lots of issues(fraying).  I have considered making tablecloths out of them, but so far haven't gotten that done.  Any suggestions?  I love to look at the old fabric designs, and it is fun to see that quilt patterns, like zigzags and hexagons, never go out of style : )  In fact, they both have a "modern quilt" look, don't you think?

bright bee blocks

I have received a lovely Bachelor Puzzle block from Pat in Oregon, along with a cute mug rug : )
I sent Pat a star block with a hexagon flower.  We both like bright colors, can you tell?

quick gift for the college bound

If you need a quick, practical gift for a highschool grad going off to college then why not make them a laundry bag.  You can do like I did and use bright, cheery fabrics, or you can go with the school colors.  These bags are 20" X 36".  I had the names embroidered on heavy muslin.

Hope you have a wonderful week : )

another quilt top to add to the pile

I finished this little quilt top that will be added to my "to be quilted pile".  It will make a nice baby quilt or table topper someday : )  I love the colors!

And I am happy to tell you that the Mississippi kite has earned his wings and has flown away!

Well it is Friday and I still need to make a couple Farmer's Wife blocks, so I hope to have some to show soon.
