finished WIP

I have had this table runner/ work-in-progress for a long time.
All it needed was to be machine quilted, so I decided to practice
my straight line quilting on this project.

It is always good to finish a project…especially one that has
been hanging around awhile!

wip~~~hawaiian applique

I have had this little Hawaiian appliqué kit for years.  It is for needle turn appliqué.
I have always admired needle turn appliqué, but I just don't have the patience for it at this
point in my life!  So I decided to make this block my way... a raw edged Hawaiian appliqué block.

I am using red variegated floss for my stitches.

I am also hand stitching my Union Jack mini quilt.  I am still spending lots of
time watching NBA basketball on TV : )

I do like working with red!

show off friday~~~lost and found

Show Off Friday
I am showing off an old denim and flannel rag quilt that I thought was lost.  I gave it to my son years ago, and it had disappeared.   Well, we were babysitting my daughter's dog this week-end and I was surprised to see this quilt at the bottom of the dog crate under an old comforter : )

I machine quilted lots of subliminal messages like these...
Call Home(above) and Study(below)

I  machine quilted different designs too.

I am glad this quilt was found, it will make a nice picnic quilt.
It was made with jeans and flannel shirts.  Have you ever made a rag quilt?
They are so easy and as you can see, a fun way to practice your machine quilting.

I am having so much fun with my stitching project, and I appreciate
the comments with the tips for making french knots.  They helped me a lot!

Now it is your turn to link up something~~~~ what do you have for

wip~~~stitching along

I have a new embroidery project to work on while I am watching television
with my husband in the evenings.  We have been watching NBA basketball.....
our favorite team, the OKC Thunder, are still playing!

I found this fun fabric at my LQS that became the perfect design for some colorful stitching.

I don't have a plan for this project.  It is just a fun way to practice my stitches.

I won't cover every red line with embroidery, but who knows when I will
decide I am finished : )  This is going to be fun!

OH, do you have any tips on making French knots?

wip~~~modern hexagons

I am still working on hexagons : )

The solid hexagons make a nice, modern flower.

There will be many more of these in my future!

show off friday~~~more baby quilt tops

Show Off Friday

I have two more baby quilt tops ready to be quilted....I better get with it : )  As I have mentioned before, I am making baby quilts to take to Africa this summer.  I have one finished.  Now, counting these two tops, there are three waiting in line to be machine quilted.

I have some friendship star quilt blocks in my UFO pile that work perfectly with the 30's prints
 in my fabric stash.

These two quilt tops are bright and cheery, don't you think?

wip~~~hexagons and crosses

I am still playing with the hexagon blocks I first showed you here.  I decided to add some cross blocks and then went a little crazy and cut the hexagons and added some strips of fabric like the cross blocks.

I don't know where this is going to lead, but it sure is fun : )

wip~~~lavender squares

I will be making a few small gifts before my daughter's wedding in July.  I saw this idea at The Purl Bee and knew that I would have to make these for her friends.  Yes, sachets are a bit old fashion, but they are a wonderful way to keep your linen drawers and clothes smelling fresh,
and they even keep the moths and bugs away : )

All that you need to get started is some lavender(I found it at Hobby Lobby),  5 inch charm squares of a print fabric and linen, and crochet thread.

Iron about 1/4 inch on one side of the print and linen and then sew 1/4 inch around the other three sides.

Turn and then add your lavender loosely, it isn't packed tight like a pin cushion!

Sew the opening closed and enjoy the wonderful smell while you are sewing.

I didn't like the way they looked with the machine stitching, so I added some hand stitching and I think it gave them an Anthropologie look : )

I have more to make.  They smell so wonderful, I think I may have to make some for myself.  It would be great to have them in my fabric stash so I could smell this fresh fragrance every time I walked in my sewing room......ahhhh.

little quilt monday~~~amish stitching

Little Quilt Monday

I have been hand stitching a little quilt top that I have had in my WIP pile for a while.  I love the Amish design with the bright, bold solid fabrics.  I chose a turquoise crochet thread for the big stitches.

It is about 28 X 28 inches.  It will make a nice wall hanging or table topper.

I hope to have it finished by the end of the week : )

Now it is your turn to link up something to

Little Quilt Monday
