show off friday~~~roommate gifts

Show Off Friday

I had two wonderful roommates at QuiltCon and I made them a little gift
to commemorate the long week-end : )

I have been on a pincushion craze so I made them a little pincushion
that they could take to their workshops.

I embroidered a simple Oklahoma outline and filled them with
crushed walnut shells.

They measure 2.5" X 4"....the perfect size to keep in a take-along sewing kit.

Now it is your turn to link up something~~~~what do you have for

another infinity scarf

I must admit that making infinity scarves is a bit addicting....

This scarf measures(finished) 54" X 4".
It is made with a yummy Anna Marie Horner velveteen fabric.

My daughter liked this one, so I am going to have to make one for her : )

quiltcon~~~5 things about me

I am so excited about going to QuiltCon next week!

The Modern Quilt Guild is hosting a Link party to give everyone going to QuiltCon a
chance to introduce themselves.  They have ask for a picture, and then we are to
post five things about us..... so here goes : )

Here's a picture of me on my way out the door to have dinner celebrating
the 32nd Anniversary of the first date with my dear husband.(Feb 13th)

Five things about me:

1.  I have two dogs and one cat....two children and one husband.
2.  I live in a house that was built in 1905.
3.  I didn't enjoy hand quilting until I discovered big stitches with perle cotton.
4.  I am going to take a Master Gardeners class next year because I love
nature and gardening.
5.  My grandmother taught me to sew when I was a child.  I mainly sewed
clothing until I discovered quilting in 1995 when I joined a neighborhood group.

That's five things.....

Are you going to QuiltCon?  If you are, join the Link Party here.
Leave me a comment if you are going, I would love to meet you!

little quilt monday~~~infinity scarf

Little Quilt Monday

I know this is not a quilt project, necessarily, but it is all I have
for today.  And it was loads of fun to make!
I ran across the link for a tutorial on making an
infinity scarf from two fat quarters here.

I decided to make one while I watched the Grammy's last night : )
It was so quick and easy.

I have a fat quarter bundle of Poetica by Art Gallery Fabrics
and I had a hard time deciding which fabrics to use, so
I will probably make another soon!

Although the tutorial calls for batting, I decided not to
add any so I can wear it in the cooler Spring months or
inside without getting too hot.  The fabrics also look like Spring
and I have Spring fever : )

I am planning to do some hand stitching in pink.
I always look forward to that process....it is so relaxing.

little quilt monday~~~pincushions

Little Quilt Monday

I have two more pincushions made with black and white appliquéd leaves.
The pincushion that I gave away on my blog was the first one
shown here and here.  I imagine these won't be the last
because they are so much fun to make : )

The measurements are 6" X 6".
