show off friday~~~lost and found

Show Off Friday
I am showing off an old denim and flannel rag quilt that I thought was lost.  I gave it to my son years ago, and it had disappeared.   Well, we were babysitting my daughter's dog this week-end and I was surprised to see this quilt at the bottom of the dog crate under an old comforter : )

I machine quilted lots of subliminal messages like these...
Call Home(above) and Study(below)

I  machine quilted different designs too.

I am glad this quilt was found, it will make a nice picnic quilt.
It was made with jeans and flannel shirts.  Have you ever made a rag quilt?
They are so easy and as you can see, a fun way to practice your machine quilting.

I am having so much fun with my stitching project, and I appreciate
the comments with the tips for making french knots.  They helped me a lot!

Now it is your turn to link up something~~~~ what do you have for

wip~~~stitching along

I have a new embroidery project to work on while I am watching television
with my husband in the evenings.  We have been watching NBA basketball.....
our favorite team, the OKC Thunder, are still playing!

I found this fun fabric at my LQS that became the perfect design for some colorful stitching.

I don't have a plan for this project.  It is just a fun way to practice my stitches.

I won't cover every red line with embroidery, but who knows when I will
decide I am finished : )  This is going to be fun!

OH, do you have any tips on making French knots?

little quilt monday~~~wavy tumbler mini quilt

Little Quilt Monday

I finished my Wavy Tumbler mini quilt.  It was a fun one to piece together.
I am planning to make a larger New Wave Quilt that I mentioned here.

I was able to keep these waves straight with the help of the notches on the
Accuquilt Go!Baby tumbler die.  Now I need to figure out where to notch the pieces

I used a bright gold crochet thread to hand stitch this mini quilt.

The fabric is from my Flea Market Fancy stash by Denyse Schmidt for Free Spirit.
Click the pictures for a closer look : )

The Wavy Tumbler mini quilt measurements are 17 X 14.5 inches.

Now it is your turn to link up something to

giveaway winner

I am happy to announce that the winner of my giveaway is Kelsey who said:

We're going camping!!

Kelsey, I will be contacting you soon to find out where to send your fabric.

I want to thank all of you that left comments about your summer plans.  It looks like it is going to be a busy summer for many of you, and there will even be a few reunions : )

I realized that I didn't tell about my summer plans.  My daughter is getting married this summer, so we will have a small reunion at the wedding!   I also have a trip to South Africa planned, and I am making baby quilts to give while I am there   However, most of the summer will be spent here in Oklahoma,
with lots of cook-outs, swimming and sewing......
and hopefully it won't be as hot as last year.

show off friday~~~ new wave

Show Off Friday

I am going to make a New Wave Quilt, using Elizabeth Hartman's pattern.

I have chosen fabric from my stash, of course : )

I am having a hard time keeping the waves straight, so I decided to make a
mini quilt to figure out how to keep the waves in line.  And, you know I do like to make mini quilts!

I have an Accuquilt Go!Baby, so I cut some tumbler blocks that mimic the waves and
this is what I came up with:

These small tumbler blocks are easier to keep straight because the edges are trimmed.   This helps you sew them together without any problems.  Now I need to figure out a way to trim the edges of the larger pieces for the wave quilt, so I can easily sew the edges in a straight line.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

little quilt monday~~~amish mini finished

Little Quilt Monday

I finally finished big stitching my Amish mini quilt.

I used turquoise crochet thread to make my hand stitching really pop.  A bright blue backing and black binding were the finishing touches for this little beauty.

The measurements are 27 X 27 inches.  The tiny squares making up the center block
finished at 1 inch.

This little quilt is going to hang in my sewing room : )

blogger's quilt festival

Amy's Creative Side

I am looking forward to visiting all the blogs and seeing the quilts that each one is showing for the Blogger's Quilt Festival this year!

I decided to showcase a quilt that I haven't ever blogged about, and I don't know why, because it is one
of my all-time favorites.
My entry is 107.

It is an original quilt, made up of a square in a square pattern using Kaffe Fassett fabrics.
It is one of my favorites because I love all the bright colorful flowers.  They look great together like a flower garden at its peak, with all its glorious blooms : )

The quilt measurements are 52 X 62 inches.  It was LA machine quilted by a friend, Debbie Croft.

I hope you will take some time to look around my blog.  I host two linky parties each week.  The first one is Little Quilt Monday, and it is for any small/mini quilt projects.  The other is Show Off Friday, and it is for any project that you would like to share.... both can be a WIP or finished.

show off friday~~~more baby quilt tops

Show Off Friday

I have two more baby quilt tops ready to be quilted....I better get with it : )  As I have mentioned before, I am making baby quilts to take to Africa this summer.  I have one finished.  Now, counting these two tops, there are three waiting in line to be machine quilted.

I have some friendship star quilt blocks in my UFO pile that work perfectly with the 30's prints
 in my fabric stash.

These two quilt tops are bright and cheery, don't you think?
