another infinity scarf

I must admit that making infinity scarves is a bit addicting....

This scarf measures(finished) 54" X 4".

It is made with a yummy Anna Marie Horner velveteen fabric.

My daughter liked this one, so I am going to have to make one for her : )

I entered my tea towel in the Farmers Wife for Your Life contest over at Sunni's blog and I won one of the prizes!   This week I received my two FQ bundles of Poetica by Pat Bravo for Art Gallery Fabrics from the Fat Quarter Shop.  One bundle is called Rose Ballad and the other is Seafoam Symphony.

The fabric is gorgeous and has a wonderful, soft feel.

I am one lucky girl!  I haven't decided what to make with all these lovelies, but it certainly will be fun playing with them.

leap day blog hop giveaway

granny square number 2

I made another Granny Square quilt block out of my vintage fabric stash.  These are so much fun to make : )   Another name for this block is Arbor Window.
Part of the fun is going through my fabrics, picking out the colors and looking at the different vintage designs.  It is playing with blocks...quilter style!

I think this is going to make a darling quilt.

granny square number one

I am joining the Granny Square quilt block bandwagon!  I have some 3 inch vintage fabric squares that I occasionally pull out for making hexagons.  These will be perfect for this quilt block.  The original pattern calls for 2.5 inch fabric squares, but I decided to just leave mine at 3 inches.  What an easy block to make using scraps, and I already had the Kona Snow fabric for the background.  I have squared up the block a little bigger than it will be in the end, just to make sure all my blocks turn out to be the same size : )

wip~~~~new wave quilt

My WIP(one of them : ) is the New Wave Quilt by Elizabeth Hartman of Oh, Fransson!  I have already cut out the waves, and I am now ironing the fabric that I will use for the sashing.   

 Once again, I am using fabric that is already in my stash, and that is a good thing!

little quilt monday~~~4 hearts mini quilt

Little Quilt Monday

I have a WIP that has been patiently waiting for my attention.  The heart appliqués are begging to be hand stitched before Valentine's Day : )  The four hearts are raw edge appliqué and the fabric is an older Moda line called Paris Flea Market.

I am going to use bright pink crochet thread for my hand stitching on this little beauty.  The big stitches are going to look great.   Although this is not the most modern looking little quilt in the world, I am linking up to Sew Modern Monday.   I think the big stitch quilting will make it a thoroughly modern mini....hehe.

I think this 4 hearts mini quilt is going to be a cute addition to my Valentine decor this year, and it always feels good to finish a WIP that has been hanging around for a while!

rose bud hexagon

I plan to make a rose star block using the tutorial found here.  There are already so many darling ones showing up on flickr and different quilting blogs.  I started out with my hexagon of either 2 1/4 inches or 2 1/2 inches....which is correct?

Then I drew the lines on my hexagons for the rose star pattern.

I cut them apart and started my English paper piecing  and decided that some of the pieces were entirely too small for me to fiddle with, so that is when I decided to make rose buds instead : )

I am using my heather ross fabric for these and I think I am going to have lots of fun making rose buds!

I will try the rose star pattern again with a larger hexagon, but for now I am content with these cuties.

You may notice that I don't sew with the thread on top like the tutorial.  I learned to sew on the back, not go through the paper, and then I just leave the thread alone when I take the paper out.

vintage fabric

I have some vintage fabric yardage that I found in an antique store in Colorado that has been sitting in my stash for a while.  In the spirit of finishing a WIP, or as some might say a PIP(project in progress), I decided to use this fabric while I was here at the cabin.  It is a simple finish, but a finish is a finish : )

I cut the fabric in half and evened up the edges.  Then I ironed the sides over 1/2 inch and then ironed again 1/2 inch to give a neat edge.  All that was left to do was top stitch the sides that I had ironed, and now I have two cute vintage tea towels.   Do you call them tea towels or dish towels?

It feels good to finish some things that have been patiently waiting for my attention.  

I wonder what else I will find?
