mini hexi

I finished my hexagon mini quilt that I started here.  I used several fabrics on the back for fun and I think it turned out well.   I may still add a few embroidery stitches, but I am happy to leave it alone for now.   I have it hanging in my sewing room : )   Don't you love Amy Butler's Gypsy Caravan fabric?  I have enjoyed using up all those pretty scraps to make the hexagons.

Hexagons are so much fun to make, I will always have more to play with and perhaps I will someday make a large quilt with them!   ( probably not : )

selvage or selvedge mini

My work-in-progress for Faith's Mini Quilt Monday is a selvage spool mini quilt.  I have been collecting selvages for a while and plan to make a large spool quilt.  This was my first attempt and as you can see there are two different spools.  I am one of those people that likes to make my own patterns and I discovered that I may need to go to a tutorial when I start on the larger quilt : )

This mini was made using a Moda scrap bag of fabric called Breakfast at Tiffany's by Joanna Figueroa from Fig Tree & Co.

I plan to make different sized spools when I get to the larger quilt too, but it will be a mixture of selvages from all the different fabric lines and colors.

Which way do you spell this fabric edge..... selvage(US) or selvedge(British)?

I have finished last weeks Hexagon mini quilt and I will post a picture on tomorrow's blog.

small town

I went to my LQS yesterday and bought some cute fabric.  They were celebrating 23 years and having a sale : )  One of the pieces that I bought was from Timeless Treasures and looks just like a small town that I would like to live in:

Who wouldn't want an ice cream store and park next to the Quilt Shop!

colorado cabin art

I spent a week in Colorado with my daughter, MB, between her clinical assignment and school.  We had a wonderful time hiking, eating, napping and shopping.  I worked on my hexagons and she made a few bracelets.  While I was there, I took a few photos of my wall art.  One is a cross stitch that I made and the other two I purchased from an art festival in Oklahoma City years ago.  I have always like the ones that I bought, they are painted blocks with stitching on muslin.(click on the photo for a closeup)  I think they would be fun to make, but I do not need to learn another kind of craft : )

We had such wonderful weather in Colorado that I was dreading coming home to the heat.  Thankfully, we have had cool weather here in Oklahoma this week....what a blessing!

baby taggy blanket square

I have several baby showers to attend and my daughter, MB, told me about something called a "taggy blanket" that one of her PT patients told her they made for baby gifts.  MB explained it to me, and I also did a google search and found this tutorial.  It is a quick and easy little "made by me" project that I can give along with a purchased gift.   Although I would love to always give the gift of a baby quilt, I don't always have time to make one before the shower, and this little ribbon quilt can be made in no time : )

This taggy is 13 inches by 13 inches.  I am going to link this to Quilt Story's Fabric Tuesday.

mini quilt monday

Today I have a work in progress for the Mini Quilt Monday hosted by Faith at Fresh Lemons : )
I have started a 2 inch hexagon mini quilt and I am really enjoying the handwork.

First I laid them out.

I am almost finished sewing them together.  Next I will choose a border!


Today is my 30th wedding anniversary!  We went to dinner at Mickey Mantle's Steak House last night and tonight we are cooking out with our family.
